| Skyline Literary Community
Editorial information. Haiku
Haven and Poet Express were created from the ashes of Skyline
Magazines. In a moment, you will understand what I'm trying to
express, and how we happened upon the name Poet Express. Self
explanatory: here at Poet Express, you are cordially welcomed to
enjoy expressions of poets when you visit, often I hope, our place
for poets to express! We encourage new and established writers to
join us.
My name is Victoria Valentine. I'm
a writer and publisher from NY, USA. Here's a short story that will
kind of tell you who I am, and what I'm about.
I published Skyline Literary
Magazines for about 4 years, starting in September of 2001. Skyline
was overwhelmingly accepted by the community of literary arts in
cities and states across the USA, and was shipped to some
International regions.
Skyline produced elegant, monthly
magazines that were distributed nationwide by 3 professional
distributors. Unfortunately, a magazine cannot survive on
reputation and sales alone. We had no advertising, other than a few
author ads that we priced at $25.00. To bring a very beautiful,
exciting and sad story to a climax, Skyline closed its doors last
May, 2005, leaving behind a national distribution of 10,000
magazines per month. Right afterward, I took a job that actually
paid me, and for the past year I have been happily working for a
medical messaging company, providing world class customer
service:)
As the dust settled, I found myself
in a 'regular' routine, missing writing, missing publishing, missing
Skyline. So........here we are today, June 1, 2006, and we've
resurrected Skyline Literary Community, adding Poet Express and
Haiku Haven web sites. So maybe this isn't such a sad story after
all. Because here we are, today, back on track with Poet Express,
Haiku Haven and the amazing Skyline Literary Community!
Here's my bio that I use for my own
submissions, although I rarely submit my own work for publication
anymore. I'd rather publish yours! As my good friend and house
artist of Poet Express, Steve Cartwright, said when he heard that we
are back online: "The ink is in your blood, Victoria." Steve is
right!
